A cooler night meant a better sleep and we weren’t up until
6.30am this morning. Had a very
leisurely morning with Peg, Andy, Jimmy, Elizabeth and Phillip, breakfasting
and packing our bags in preparation for the start of our journey to Barcelona.
Leaving 1 Greenfields Drive for the last time |
Phillip and Elizabeth have also done some cycle touring and decided
to accompany us on this first leg of our trip to Chester. As we set off from Peggy’s, with our bikes
loaded up for the first time, we wobbled a bit.
Our bikes felt heavy and cumbersome but we soon fell into the plod of
the road and as the day wore on, we got more used to the new dynamic. It was Elizabeth’s birthday today so once we
arrived in Chester after a lovely traffic free ride along the numerous cycle
paths round these parts, we shouted them both to lunch. Nice pub lunch which I
thought was pretty reasonable for four of us.
A walk through the city afterwards to find Julia a helmet,
as she hasn’t worn one since we got here, finally resulted in us ending up at
Evans Cycles, where the purchase took place.
Walking through the beautiful city of Chester |
Said goodbye to Elizabeth and Phil
and grabbed the bikes, to pedal back along the canal to Blacon, where we took
that exit and made our way to David and Jane Mann’s home. We had stayed with
David at the end of our 2016 tour, however Jane had been away in Spain, so this
was our first meeting.
Jane is a bubbly, fun loving person who we immediately took
a liking to. She was a fitness trainer but now concentrates her time on her
photography, which she is extremely good at. She has her studio at her
beautiful home and her speciality is baby portraits. She has done a fantastic
job setting up her studio and it’s warm and welcoming and of course, full of
light.
David and Jane have a lot of interesting stories and we have
a lot of common interests so for the remainder of the late afternoon and
evening, it was very easy to chat about a variety of subjects over a delicious
dinner, finally getting to bed at
midnight.
